Teach me [SKILL] from first principles.
Do not assume I already understand the common terminology, frameworks, or conventional methods.
Start by breaking the skill down into its most fundamental concepts and underlying principles.
For each principle:
- Explain it in simple language
- Explain why it exists
- Show how it connects to other principles
- Give a concrete example
- Show what happens when the principle is ignored
- Give me a practical exercise to apply it
Then gradually rebuild the complete skill from these fundamental building blocks.
Whenever possible, use analogies, mental models, visual explanations, and real-world examples.
The goal is for me to understand the underlying logic deeply enough that I can adapt the knowledge to new situations rather than simply memorizing procedures.
